Shelby Logsdon, LMFT
Welcome! My name is Shelby and my pronouns are she/her. Originally from California, I came to Tennessee by way of Washington, DC many years ago. When I’m not in my therapy office, you can find me managing life’s follies with my partner, hanging out with my 3 kids, and wrangling a myriad of felines and our German Shepherd, Spike. I love to read and am always learning. I also enjoy seeing live music and exploring new places. I stay active through yoga, hiking, running, and paddleboarding as often as I can. I am passionate about helping people on their healing journey and I am honored to be considered a part of yours.
My Therapeutic Approach is:
Affirming & Inclusive
I believe you are the expert in your own life. Therapy is a collaborative process where your experiences, values, emotions, and inner wisdom guide our work together. I aim to meet you where you are with curiosity, respect, and care.
Relational & Systemic
My approach is trauma-informed and attentive to how experiences live in both the mind and body. I work at a pace that feels safe and steady, using grounding and nervous system-aware practices to help create a sense of stability and presence.
Client-Focused & Collaborative
Therapy is a collaborative process guided by your goals, needs, and inner wisdom. I meet you where you are and walk alongside you, helping you explore emotions, challenges, and strengths at a pace that feels supportive and empowering for you.
Experiential & Holistic
I integrate evidence-based practices with a holistic understanding of human experience. Drawing from IFS, mindfulness, attachment theory, and polyvagal concepts, I support healing that honors both science and meaning.

How I Show Up as a Therapist
I recognize that we all have our joys and accomplishments to be proud of, and we all have challenges, pain, fear, and trauma to move forward and heal from. I also recognize that not all families, not all relationships, not all people fit neatly into the dominant societal structure and expectations, but for me, that diversity illustrates how amazing and resilient people are. I welcome you to explore your joys and challenges with me, in a nonjudgemental and affirming space. Come as you are! I meet you where you are at and walk alongside you, helping you discover your inner wisdom and guide you on your healing journey towards your most authentic self.
As a systemically trained Clinician, I explore your story through a relationship lens. This includes your relationships with others, your relationships with your culture, your societal relationships and expectations, along with your relationship with yourself. Using various empirically supported therapeutic methods I work with each individual to meet their needs and to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors within the context of their stories. This may include integrating aspects of the Boweian model, a transgenerational approach, exploring the rules and roles of you in the context of your upbringing. Or I may utilize interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), focusing on learning how to love and accept aspects of yourself. We might use Brainspotting to help activate suppressed trauma to allow for processing and healing.
As your Clinician, I hold space for you to come as you are and to explore all facets of yourself. We will laugh, cry, move, meditate and work together towards health and healing. I will challenge you to explore those emotions that you may try to ignore – the pain, the confusion, the sadness, and the anger – in a caring and nurturing environment. Change can be hard and doing the work in therapy can be hard, but you will see it is so worth it. My hope is you will feel the restoration of joy, hope and see growth towards being the whole self you are working so hard towards. It is my honor to witness your work and assist you on this healing journey.
