I believe in the power of authenticity and the importance of honoring your journey. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming practitioner, ally, and social justice advocate, having recently worked on the campaigns to elect Tennessee’s first transgender council person, and to elect Metro Nashville’s first LGBTQ+ school board member, as well as, lobbying at city hall to lift Tennessee’s ban on drag performances and festivals. My true passion in the field is on the queer community, especially the transgender youth and adults who face so much hardships in life. I want to create that safe special where someone feels they can be their whole self. I currently work with, individuals, couples, and teens, all at completely different places in life.
A session with me starts with grounding ourselves and setting our intentions for our time together. Our sessions are a no pressure, safe, and are an inviting place where you are free to do whatever you need to work through life’s peaks and valleys. I believe one of the most beautiful parts of life is that no two humans are just alike. Because of this I work hard to create a uniquely individual, client centered session tailored to your personal needs. My therapeutic approach is compassionate, empathetic, nonjudgmental, goal-oriented, collaborative, affirming, and person-centered. My goals with my clients are to decrease stress, increase coping, manage depression and anxiety, improve self care, modify behavior, and explore their emotions. We achieve and work towards these goals together in many different ways, including: cognitive reframing, exploration of emotions and of relationship patterns, interactive feedback, IFS, Gottman therapy, Gestault therapy, and emotionally focused therapy approaches. I want you to be able to recognize and affirm the beautiful parts that make you who you are.
Together, we can work towards your goals, fostering self-acceptance and empowerment along the way. I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your path.
MY TRAINING
I graduated with my Bachelors in Liberal Studies from Belmont University in 2022 and am currently a student in the Masters in Mental Health Counseling with a focus in Marriage and Family Therapy at Belmont University, under the clinical supervision of Cadey Phipps, LMFT. I have completed additional training in the Gottman Method and Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS), which are tools for couples therapy and premarital counseling. In addition to my program course work I am also working on certifications in Transgender Affirmative Mental Health Care and LGBTQIA Affirmative Therapy through the Modern Sexy Therapy Institute.
